Scrimshaw Tooth, "Free Trade and Sailor's Rights"

Scrimshaw tooth, stained amber.  Obverse of tooth has has cross-hatched, full-length view of a female figure dressed in a red striped skirt with a blue blouse with white stars.  The figure wears a tiara; and holds matching shield in right hand, waves pennant reading "LIBERTY" in left hand; stands on pile of rope; incised in cursive script on reverse "Free trade/ and sailors rights." Possibly part of collection of New London CT Jibboom Club [1870-1959].
