Oil painting of a seascape by oysterman and artist, Carl F. Andersen. The scene shows a rocky shore, the moon in a cloudy sky, a lighthouse and dwelling on the left side, and a schooner on the right. Gulls are also present.
Carl Andersen was an oysterman who was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He gave up oystering in 1937 and became the bridge tender at Pleasure Beach Bridge in Bridgeport, retiring from that position in 1971. He was an untrained painter of seascapes and landscapes.
