In this image, four natives of Siberia (one woman and three men) are pictured on the deck of the bark Young Phoenix wearing their native dress. A whaleboat and a small animal are visible in the background. This photo was taken by journalist Herbert L. Aldrich while in the western Arctic in 1887. Written on the back, in pencil is "Siberian Eskimo - One Woman/ and Three Men." This is an albumen print on a creme-colored mount.

Please note that the use of the word "Eskimo," within this description, is in quotations, copied from the primary source material.
