Pagoda Shaped Chinese Urn

Description

Large pagoda shaped ceramic Chinese urn.  Red stoneware with a yellow celadon colored glaze. Urn is in 2 parts, which fit on top of one another; both top & bottom with 8 panels decorated with applied, incised and stamped oriental motifs. This urn was originally brought to Mystic in 1867 by Captain Joseph Warren Holmes and was placed in the garden of his nephew, Ben Holmes, whose wife was the sister of donor's great grandfather.
