"The Sperm Whale"

zoomable artifact image here

Colored engraving, most likely a page removed from a book.  The image depicts a whaling scene, with a dead whale ashore, and three people in a rowing boat towards the right.  "LE CACHALOT MACROCEPHALE" is printed in the bottom, center portion of the print, which translates from french to "The Macrocephalic [large headed] Sperm Whale".  Also at the bottom of the page is the name of the artist, Edouard Travies (a french natural history artist), as well as the printers, Beyer & Manceau, and the publisher, Furne.
