This is a gelatin print of a 12 year old Inuit girl. An animal appears on the right in the foreground. On the back is written: "Mummy-ow-Kog-mul-luk girl - age 12 - Feb. 1895." Captain John Atkins Cook may have taken this photo. The gelatin print mount is dark brown with a gold trim.
Please note, we are unsure of the meaning of the term "Kog-mul-luk," which is used here in quotations, taken directly from the handwritten primary source material. It is likely a designation for a specific indigenous group and might refer to the region they inhabited.
