Ideas for Classroom Use

Revolutionary War Powder Horn

Art Project

Design your own powder horn using patterns, themes and decorative elements appropriate for the Revolutionary War. Use the other powder horns listed under “related items in the collection” for more examples. Consider how symbolism in art was being used, such as engraved images of eagles and rifles, and why it was important. Discuss your design and reasoning with the class.
