Cased tintype portrait of three men. Identified at left is Elihu A. Thompson from ironclad USS DICTATOR. Other men are Francis Wright and George Walbridge. Dated circa 1863. Elihu Thompson served aboard USS DICTATOR, a Civil War ironclad. DICTATOR was an early style single-turreted monitor, similar to the original Ericson vessel. She was built by Delameter Iron Works in New York and was assigned to the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron during the Civil War, decommissioned in 1883.
