About Cheryl Iozzo, Ed.D
Dr. Cheryl Iozzo has been an art educator for the Greenwich Connecticut Public Schools since 1994. In 2014, she was named one of six Distinguished Teachers for the GPS and later was named the the Greenwich Representative for the 2015 CT Teacher of The Year Program. As one of 14 semifinalists for the CT TOY Program, Cheryl represented what is best in the teaching profession during a series of meetings with the Commissioner of Education and the Connecticut State Board of Education Leadership Team during the 2014-2015 school year. During the summer of 2015, she particpated in a three-day professional development program at Mystic Seaport, designed specifically for the TOY semifinalists.
Cheryl received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts with a concentration in painting followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching from the Rhode Island School of Design. She went on to earn a second Masters degree in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University focusing on technology integration followed by a Doctoral degree in Art Education from TC focusing on student discourse about art without teacher interference. Dr. Iozzo gives back to education as a CT TEAM Mentor and Cooperating Teacher for nearby colleges and universities.
