About Emma Ritter
Emma Ritter teaches 5th and 6th grade Social Studies at Milford Central School in Milford, NY. Emma has had a wide variety of educational experiences. Over the course of her career, she has taught high school and middle school special education , second grade and fifth and sixth grade social studies.
Originally from Cressona, Pennsylvania, she completed her undergraduate work at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania. She continued her degree work at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania receiving Special Education Certification there. Emma then obtained her Master’s degree in Special Education from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY where she was inducted into the international education honor society, Kappa Delta Pi.
Emma currently lives in Oneonta, NY devoting much of her time to gardening, pottery, stained glass and other crafts. Emma and her husband Ron have been married for thirty years and live with two rescue cats named “Mister” and “Casino” who add new adventures daily.
Emma comments: "Growing up in central Pennsylvania contributed to my love of history. Becoming an MSE Fellow has been a wonderful opportunity. I have been able to research artifacts, explore the importance of personal history and bring new knowledge and passion to my classroom. I have also had the opportunity to connect with many dedicated members of the MSE community."
