About Megan Jacobs
Megan Jacobs is a STEAM teacher in Plainfield, CT. A National Geographic Certified Educator, she runs the MakerSpace at Shepard Hill Elementary and strives to pack each day full of hands-on learning!
A wholehearted believer in promoting inquiry through problem-based learning activities, Megan orients her classroom to empower students to ask and answer questions about their world. Megan works to inspire curiosity, empower action, and promote investigation in her classroom, and she finds that Mystic Seaport facilitates incredible historical inquiry! Megan is so excited to be a part of an initiative that will help to put more great resources in the hands of elementary school teachers, and she can’t wait to help educators connect their social studies instruction with the wealth of Mystic Seaport’s curated artifacts! By creating resources for teachers which will help them to foster critical thinking and an interdisciplinary approach, Megan hopes to share her passion for dynamic instruction.
At home, she has a handsome husband, a darling toddler, and two very good dogs. She feels incredibly lucky to be in the field of education, reveling every day in the contagious excitement of young scientists who are hard at work!
In 2019, Megan was selected to be the Luce Teacher Fellow for Mary Mattingly's Open Ocean Exhibit.
